Affiliated Graduate Students
Costanza Alessio
Costanza earned her BA and MS in Psychology from Florida International University. She has worked as a research assistant in labs investigating mindfulness and cognitive performance in high-demand populations, as well as social phenomena in minority and underrepresented communities. Currently pursuing a PhD in Legal Psychology at FIU, her research focuses on investigative interviewing, eyewitness memory and memory errors such as confabulation, Title IX reporting, and jury decision-making. She is also a Fellow and Research Analyst at Focus Litigation Consulting.
Samantha Leo
Samantha received her BS in Psychology with a concentration in Forensics and a minor in Statistics from Coastal Carolina University in 2024. Her research interests are very broad. In her undergraduate career, she performed research in areas related to eyewitness memory, police use of force, and psychopathy, but her current interests lie in investigative interviewing, more specifically interrogations and intelligence-gathering, as well as deception detection. Most recently, though, Samantha has been interested in research surrounding the use and public knowledge of Miranda warnings.
Jabari Budd
Jabari received his BS in Psychology and a minor in Creative Writing from Sam Houston State University. He earned his MA in Psychological Science from Appalachian State University. His research experience includes deception detection, eyewitness memory, jury deliberation and decision-making, and consent.
